GFGC-Periyapatna has a very good library with a collection of almost 20000 books on various topics of interest for both the faculty and student community. The library is functioning as a knowledge hub of the college. The library will be kept open from morning 10.00 AM to 5.00 PM in the evening in all working days. Both the faculty and students have the privileges to borrow books from the library. Books for references will be provided in the afternoon in all working days. Efforts are made to computerize library functions and developing it has a learning resource center of the college.
The library is also in the process to build and develop robust collections of documents of both print based resources and digital resources. The library collections consist of good number of reference materials and text books for the need of the student community. The library is subscribing good number of scholarly journals and popular magazines. Everyday on an average 150 students would be benefiting by the library either through borrowing books or reference service.
Computer Lab
Our college has good computer lab with high speed broadband Internet connectivity. More than 15 systems have been put in place for using practical purposes. Both the faculty and student at anytime during working hours of the college can make use of computer labs. The uniqueness of the computer lab of our college is we have provided our students an opportunity to work on both commercial (Windows) and open source (Linux) platforms.
Sports
Our college is committed to provide holistic education with a blend of curricular and extra-curricular activities. We believe that overall development of students’ mental and physical health rest with their physical activities. In this regard we are encouraging our student for participating in outdoor and indoor games at the inter-collegiate,state and national level. The college has a spacious campus for playing outdoor games such as cricket,volleyball, Kabaddi and throw-ball. Twice a year we provide opportunity for our students to exhibit their sporting talent by organizing sporting events.
National Service Scheme (NSS)
National Service Scheme (NSS) is a flagship program of higher education system to cultivate the habit of social service amongst youth. The NSS unit consists more than 60 voluntary members. The NSS Unit has time and again organized blood donation camp, Sramadhan, week long programs to serve the local community. More recently week long camp was organized in a tiny village called Konnasuru in Periyapatna taluk. The NSS Unit of our college is vibrant and active.
